[Al.sub.2][O.sub.3]:[Cr.sup.3+] nanotubes synthesized via homogenization precipitation followed by heat treatment
Article Abstract:
[Cr.sup.3+]-doped N[H.sub.4]Al[(OH).sub.2]C[O.sub.3] nanotubes, templated by surfactant assemblies, is synthesized through the homogenization precipitation method and various crystallographic phase [Al.sub.2][O.sub.3]:[Cr.sup.3+] nanotubes are obtained by postannealing at different temperatures. The results have indicated that the formation mechanism of the tubular nanostructures results from the self-rolling action of layered compound N[H.sub.4]Al[(OH).sub.2]C[O.sub.3] under the assistance of the surfactant soft-template.

Shape-controlled electrodeposition of gold nanostructures
Article Abstract:
The nanopyramidal, nanorod-like and spherical gold nanostructures were produced on polycrystalline gold substrates through a one-step, nontemplated, low-cost electrochemical overpotential deposition (OPD) by manipulating the deposited potentials and concentrations of HAuCl (sub 4). It was found that the nanopyramidal structures were dominated by (111) facets and had a distinct plasmon-based color due to the anisotropic morphology and a low oxygen reduction activity.

Band-gap engineering of semiconductor nanowires through composition modulation
Article Abstract:
Alloyed ternary CdS(sub 1-x)Se(sub x) nanowires were synthesized by using template assisted electrodeposition. The results obtained by the higher-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that the alloyed ternary CdS(sub 1-x)Se(sub x) nanowires are highly crystalline, and no phase-separated Cd was observed in these nanowires.
